Get Started

The process below will begin once you and your doctor have determined that MISHA is the right treatment for you.

  1. Complete the HIPAA form – This is necessary to enroll in the myMISHA program.
  2. Submit Prior Authorization – We coordinate with your doctor and their staff to gather the required documentation.
  3. Insurance Review Process – We work with your insurance provider until your MISHA treatment is approved or all appeal options are exhausted.

If your MISHA treatment is approved, the myMISHA team will notify you, your doctor and their staff. If a surgery date isn’t scheduled yet, now’s the time to book it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will my insurance cover this procedure?

Insurance coverage can vary depending on your specific health plan. The myMISHA team will work directly with your insurance company to request authorization. We will keep you informed every step of the way.

Is the myMISHA program available to all patients?

Yes, the myMISHA program is provided at no charge to patients whose surgery includes the MISHA Knee System.

How long does the insurance process take?

Most insurance plans take between 30-120 days to review and make a determination on your MISHA treatment. We’ll let you know as soon as a decision is made and keep you updated if additional steps are needed.

What happens if my MISHA treatment is denied?

If your MISHA treatment prior authorization request is denied, don’t worry – denials are not the end of the process. Our team will assist your provider in submitting an appeal, request a peer-to-peer review, or gather additional documentation to support medical necessity.

Will I have any out-of-pocket costs?

Out of pocket costs (such as deductibles, copays or coinsurances) depend on your insurance plan. Your physician and the facility will be able to discuss any financial responsibility once your procedure is scheduled.

What paperwork do I need to complete to start the insurance process?

You will need to sign the HIPAA authorization form, so we can speak with your insurance company on your behalf. Additional forms may be required while we navigate the insurance process. The myMISHA team will guide you through the process.

Can I check the status of the insurance process?

Yes. If you’ve already started the process, you can reach out to the myMISHA team directly at info@mymisha.com and 1-855-myMISHA. We’re here to provide updates and answer questions anytime.

When can I schedule my procedure?

Your procedure can be scheduled once you and your doctor have determined that the MISHA Knee System is right for you. However, some providers will wait to schedule your procedure after insurance approval is obtained. Once that happens, your provider’s office will work with you to set a date that works for you.

What should I do while the insurance process is going on?

Studies have shown that patients who begin strength and flexibility exercises before surgery may have a faster recovery after surgery. Most “pre-habilitation” exercises can be done at home, without any special equipment, for several weeks before surgery. Ask your surgeon if a pre-habilitation program is right for you. If you have any questions or updates to your insurance, please contact us right away so we can keep your case moving forward.

What happens if I exhaust all appeal options?

In some cases, even after multiple appeals, the insurance company may issue a final denial. We understand how disappointing this can feel, especially when you’re seeking relief and have already put time and energy into the process. A final denial doesn’t mean you’re out of options, the myMISHA team will walk you through what this means and help you explore next steps. Above all, we’re here for you whether it’s answering questions, helping you understand your options, or guiding you through what comes next.

You may choose to enroll in the myMISHA (Program) that obtains insurance coverage information for the MISHA Knee System. To enroll you must complete the HIPAA Authorization form (Authorization). Please note that your treatment is not conditioned on signing the Authorization, however by refusing to sign the Authorization you will not be able to enroll in or receive assistance from the Program (for example, assistance with determining your insurance coverage). If you choose to sign the Authorization, you authorize your healthcare provider(s), including your treating provider and the facility where your surgery takes place, and your health insurance company (collectively “Providers”) to disclose to Moximed, the manufacturer of the MISHA Knee System, its affiliates, and their respective employees, agents, and contracted third parties (collectively “Companies”) your protected health information (“Health Information”) to administer the Program. See the HIPAA Authorization form for full details.
